The 6th grade band serves as the second stage for our beginners. At this point in the game, your student probably knows the basic ins-and outs of their instrument, and has a performance under their belt! Woo-hoo!
With a skilled group of young professionals, we will begin rehearsing more difficult repertoire while exploring music of varying genres and types. Your student will also be challenged to use their ears to not only judge musical performances, but also to learn music on their own!
Q: "Will my student be performing more often now that they're older?"
A: Yes and no. The only official after school concert they'll be involved with will still be the area concert in May. However, if the ensemble is doing really great work, we will put on a during-school show for all of Sam Adams elementary! You can find dates and times on the calendar page if needed.
Q: "What if my student wasn't in band last year and wants to be in it now?"
A: I am willing to take anybody of any skill level as long as they have the right attitude. If your student is a hard worker and is okay with playing catch-up, then 6th grade band might be the time for them to join. Per usual, I am only an email away and would be happy to discuss these circumstances with you!
